Last Monday, Foodshare staffer Trish Mason was on her way to a training conference for our food bank software package to be held in Erie, Pennsylvania. Perhaps you heard the story about a plane starting to smoke and having to turn around and land back at Bradley Airport? Well, Trish was on that plane!
In re-telling about her day, Trish said, "I attended the user group in Erie, PA, last week for Primarius. The story from Channel 3 basically states what happened. What it doesn’t tell you is that we all had to jump out of the plane onto the tarmac! The plane did not have a slide/shoot to come down. And I got on another plane the same day to get to the conference. Everyone I tell this story to cannot believe I got onto another plane the same day."
Thanks, Trish, for being so fearless in your travels! I hope the meeting was worth the effort it took to get there!
Foodshare's Technology Services Manager was on the same trip, but on a different outbound flight. However, here's what she had to say about the trip back to Hartford, "The second half of the story about the trip to Erie is that coming home, bad weather in Philadelphia caused us (and three colleagues from the Food Bank of Western Mass) to be rerouted onto another flight. I was the last of the five of us in line, and when they got to me there were no more seats available. So they booked me on a flight the following morning, then told me the airport closes overnight and I’d have to find a place to stay. Getting back to the Erie airport at 4:30 AM the next day, I found out my flights that day were also delayed and I didn’t get back to Hartford until early afternoon. But yes, the trip was well worth it!"
After all of these challenges with traveling, I am surely glad to hear that the meeting was worth it!
