A special Christmas donation

This message today via Foodshare Food Sourcing Manager, Ernie Pitti:



“The other day, Eric Zeilor , the Senior Vice President of Merchandising,  Marketing, and Procurement at SYSCO called me with an unexpected message.  Each year employees can chose to donate the turkey and/or pies that SYSCO gives to them.  This year, many employees chose to donate them to Foodshare so that a number of less fortunate families will have some holiday cheer.  In addition, the owner of Billy Grant’s Restaurants challenged SYSCO to match each turkey the restaurants donated to Foodshare with one of its own and SYSCO had those turkeys ready to donate as well! 

"Yesterday, our truck arrived back at Foodshare from SYSCO with 30 pies and 20 extra large turkeys donated by employees along with the 60 turkeys donated by SYSCO as a result of the Billy Grant challenge.

"If I ever struggled to understand what helps define a friend, I was reminded yesterday that it’s continual selfless acts of generosity and thoughtfulness that  our friends at SYSCO and Billy Grant’s Restaurants exhibited yesterday (and everyday throughout the year)!

"Thank you friends!”
