I love Christmas. And it's not just because my birthday is Christmas Eve!
I love the music (and not just because one of the songs is Happy Birthday!), the decorations, the family gatherings, the exchange of gifts as signs of our love and good will.
My Christian faith both calls me to this work to end hunger and teaches me to respect each and all, no matter their faith or lack thereof, no matter their age, skin color, marital status, or economic standing.
For consider the message of Christmas. The Son of God was born to a homeless, unwed, teenaged mother!
If this does not call us to "Judge not, lest ye be judged," then I'm not sure what does!
Wherever you are on your own journey, whatever holidays you may or may not be celebrating, my hope for each of you is for the joy and peace that speaks to me this season.
I am taking a two week post-holiday vacation. I thank you all for your support this past year, for your ongoing kindnesses and commitment to Foodshare's work to end hunger. I will see you back here on this blog in a couple of weeks.
Merry Christmas, Happy Holidays, and all the best in the new year.
Gloria
