POVERTY GROWS IN CONNECTICUT

Between 2000 and 2012, the percent of all Connecticut residents in poverty grew to 10.0%, up from 7.9% in 2000. The percent of all children under 18 in poverty statewide increased to 13.2%, up from 10.4% in 2000. In the Greater Hartford area, 12 towns experienced significant increases in overall poverty, while 8 did in childhood poverty.
