Tennis tournament benefits Foodshare

Our Director of Development, Wendy Kohn, attended a fundraising event last Saturday for Foodshare, along with two Foodshare Ambassadors (Cate Evans and Nanette Knight). It was a mixed doubles tennis tournament organized by Carlos Salmon, a financial advisor with Merrill Lynch, assisted by Mike Reiner, co-owner of the East Hartford Tennis Club where the event was held. The tournament was round-robin style, pitting the “pro” players from the Men’s and Women’s Tennis Teams of Trinity College against the amateur members of the East Hartford Tennis Club.

Other organizations supporting the event include Adidas and Chris Bryant of The Racquet Koop. Carlos did an amazing job coordinating the event, and even played in the tournament at the same time! The matches were exciting and everyone played hard and had fun. Winners took home trophies and caps. The event raised $500 for Foodshare and $500 each for the Trinity Men’s Tennis Team and Women’s Tennis Team. Carlos plans to make this an annual event, so watch for next year’s tournament and come out to watch or sign up to play, and benefit Foodshare at the same time!
