Recognizing ShopRite of Southington

On Friday, Foodshare staff Paula, Gaye, and I visited owners, staff, and even a Foodshare volunteer at ShopRite of Southington to thank them for their very generous donations to Foodshare. This store, owned by the Drust family, participates in Foodshare’s Retail Pick-up Program where volunteers pick up donations five days a week and deliver them to four different partner agencies in Southington.

In 2013, this store donated 62,268 meals worth of food for their hungry neighbors. ShopRite also participates in Foodshare events such as the Convoy of Caring and the Walk Against Hunger, as well as their own Check Out Hunger campaign that benefits local pantries.  Their commitment to the fight against hunger is impressive and Foodshare is most appreciative.
