SNAP CASELOADS DROP

SNAP participation in February 2014 dropped to 46,177,144 people, 353,785 fewer people than in January 2014 and 1,381,020 people less than February 2013. It is now at its lowest level since August 2011.  Participation in Connecticut, though, rose by 12,948 people over the past 12 months, to 435,832, although it dropped by 3,016 from January to February 2014. About one in seven people in the U.S. received SNAP and about one in eight were unemployed or underemployed in January of 2014, according to USDA data and the U.S. Bureau of Labor Statistics U-6 measure.
