STATES’ SNAP WEBSITES VARY GREATLY
States vary significantly in terms of the amount of information and service they provide on their SNAP websites. Some states provide just a simple description of the program while others offer applications; benefit calculators; pre-screening tools; detailed program operation instructions for caseworkers, known as “policy manuals;” and copies of program memoranda to eligibility workers that describe policy changes to the program. Making all of these materials readily accessible to the public can give applicants, recipients, and others an improved understanding of SNAP. Connecticut’s website (http://www.ct.gov/dss/cwp/view.asp?a=2353&q=411676) provides printable applications, links to eligibility screening tools, and information on how to use SNAP benefits.
