CL&P employees volunteer

Foodshare recently welcomed a group from Northeast Utilities to our Bloomfield location for a full day of volunteering.  Ana Alfaro and Kevin Witkos from CT Light & Power coordinated a group of 9 employees to spend the day sorting meat in our reclamation area, and the results were impressive.  The team sorted 6,292 pounds of meat, including 440 pounds of waste, which created 4,877 meals!

Northeast Utilities has been a tremendous partner, and we look forward to continuing our relationship.  Ana and Kevin are interested in helping at one of our gardens later this summer, and we would be thrilled to have them back!

Foodshare relies on volunteers to help us in our mission to solve hunger in Greater Hartford.  If you are part of a group – work, school, house of worship, or other organization – that is looking for a volunteer opportunity, please get in touch with Keith Varriale, Volunteer Specialist at 860-286-9999 x148.
