When we talk about poverty, the natural inclination is to think of it as a permanent condition that affects only some people. But a new long-term study has confirmed something that we at Foodshare have long seen: poverty is an equal-opportunity affliction. According to the study, 54 percent of all Americans will live for at least a year at or near the poverty line--well below the qualifying level for SNAP (food stamps)--by the time they are 60. You can read more about it here.
