ABC kicks off series "Hunger at Home"

ABC News is launching a series of news reports today about food insecurity called Hunger at Home: Crisis in America, based on the findings of Feeding America's new “Map the Meal Gap: Child Food Insecurity 2011” report.

ABC plans to run features and stories on “Good Morning America,” “World News Tonight with Diane Sawyer” and “Nightline” as well as on ABC News Radio and ABCNews.com, starting August 24.   See the first story about child hunger here.

Please note that throughout the special “Hunger at Home” series, ABC will be running a Text-to-Give campaign, viewers will be asked to text “FEED(3-3-3-3) to 50555 to make a $10 donation to Feeding America.  And, of course, every dollar raised by Feeding America helps support our work locally.

ABC News’ coverage is an amazing opportunity to raise awareness about the 50 million people in our country who face hunger. I encourage everyone to tune in and share the news with your partners, supporters, friends and colleagues to help bring the problem of hunger in America to light.
