Healthy food in small corner stores

Katie Martin, a UConn researcher and Foodshare volunteer was co-author of a recently published article about corner stores in Hartford.  Published in Public Health Nutrition on Cambridge Journals, the research found that:
  • When small corner stores stock a variety of fruits and vegetables, consumers are more likely to buy them.
  • SNAP customers were twice as likely to purchase fruit as non-SNAP recipients.
