Back to school and summer food comes to an end for another year

With school starting in most districts this week, summer food programs have been winding down.  The tireless group of volunteers at the Enfield Lunch Bunch sent me this update on Friday about their last day of lunch and their distribution of school backpacks to the children who came:

"We received 525 back packs and 45 boxes of supplies.  Today we distributed 442.  I will purchase an additional 20 and share all with Neighborhood Services, Family Resource Center, and the Enfield Public Schools.

"Many thank you's received... Many tearful goodbyes exchanged... We made a HUGE difference for hundreds..."

The line for the backpack distribution stretched down the street!
