Produce from Prison!

Foodshare received a special donation of fresh vegetables today from Cybulski State Prison in Suffield. Brooks Sumberg, Director of Harvest Now in Westport, organized the project through which inmates plant and harvest food for donation to local food banks.

Typically, the organization partners with faith-based groups – this year alone they have worked with 48 churches and temples growing food statewide! The non-profit has now begun collaborating with correctional facilities throughout the region.
