Events this weekend

Two great events this weekend....

15th Annual Empty Bowls Project - Saturday, October 27 from 11:00 AM to 3:00 PM
Manchester Community College (MCC) will once again host the Annual Empty Bowls Project in support of Foodshare. Now in its 15th year, Empty Bowls is a fun and filling way to give to Foodshare and bring home some hand-crafted pottery. At the MCC culinary center you can make a suggested donation of $15 to Foodshare, pick out a bowl crafted by local potters and MCC art students, and fill it (as many times as you’d like!) with soup from local restaurants and MCC’s amazing student chefs. From 10:00 am – 3:00 pm, the Manchester Art Association Craft Fair will also be taking place featuring many talented, local artists and crafters. Stop by, enjoy a great lunch for a great cause, and get some holiday shopping done as well!

Hartford Harley Owners Group (HOG) Turkey Run - Sunday, October 28 from 10:00 AM to 12:30 PM
The 18th annual event is dubbed the “Freedom From Hunger Ride” and seeks to assist families who need extra help putting a traditional holiday meal on the table.  Gifts of frozen turkeys and monetary donations are welcome.  The Hog Run is the first of many drives held on behalf of Foodshare's A Turkey and Thirty Campaign from October to a few days before Thanksgiving in support of our hungry neighbors. Riders will meet at Gengras Harley Davidson in East Hartford at 10:00 am, with an anticipated arrival time of 12:00 pm at Foodshare.  Stop by Foodshare if you want – it’s quite a sight (and sound) to see all of those Harley’s in one.
