Country Pure Foods

It may be less than a week until Thanksgiving and the team at Foodshare may be in the middle of our annual Turkey and Thirty campaign, but our regular work goes on, too.  Today, Food Sourcing Manager Ernie Pitti sent me this message:

"Today I had the pleasure of meeting Danelle, the Quality Assurance Manager, and given a tour of their spotless facility.  If you’re thinking, they could have cleaned this place just for me, you’would be mistaken.  Country Pure Foods, known years ago as Moser farms, is a small facility located in Ellington that produces juices for such prestigious companies as Welch’s, Tropicana,  and Odwalla, to name a few and because of this as well as their own very high standards, is always spotless!!  Country Pure also produces small juices for healthcare facilities, schools and even airlines!

"Country Pure Foods is also a Foodshare partner, one who has donated top quality juices for over 10 years.  These donations are primarily comprised of short coded products that the customer required more shelf life and therefore donated the items, or co-pack juices which fell below the very stringent specs of the customers, but still has excellent taste and nutritional value, and even some items that have been discontinued.    Between 2000 (when they started donating juice) and now, Country  Pure Foods has donated 470,804 lbs of juice or the equivalent over 392,330 meals.  That’s a lot of nutritious juice that all of the 50,000  food insecure children in our area must have enjoyed!!
