Farmington Valley Turkey Trot

WFSB Meteorologist Scot Haney
interviews Marianne Bannan
This is the 20th annual Farmington Valley Turkey Trot, an effort first organized by Jack Bannan.  Jack is a World War II veteran who was an prisoner of war and knew real hunger.  He could not imaging anyone in this country, in our communities, going hungry and so took it upon himself to organize this drive.

Jack's family, in particular, his daughter, Marianne, along with hundreds of volunteers, have kept this effort going for 20 years, even though Jack's health has declined in recent years.

Their goal today is 3,500 turkeys and it's made possible by literally hundreds of volunteers and thousands of donors!

Foodshare staffer Ali bravely donned a turkey costume to help with the drive.
