Saturday at the food pantry

I spent Saturday morning at the Safe Net Ministries Food Pantry in Stafford Springs.  An energetic and inspired group of volunteers has created this great program, including volunteers renovating the building.

The volunteers were friendly and efficient and I saw firsthand how they manage to serve about 150 households in the three hours they are open.  Since they are only open twice a month, they do send people home with fairly large amounts of food and a couple of great high school students helped people carry the bags to their cars.

Thanks for all that you do to meet the need in Stafford and Union and for letting me hang out with you all morning!
