Turkey goal has been met!

Hearing about the urgent need early this morning, Russ Lallier, President of All Waste, Inc., made a last minute donation of 500 turkeys to push Foodshare over goal the goal midday today.

Thanks to the generosity of companies like All Waste, along with hundreds of individuals, businesses, and groups, we made the goal.  As a result, Thanksgiving will be a day of celebration for 19,000 local families, and we will be giving thanks for the wonderful residents of Greater Hartford who made that happen!

Some of the more recent turkey donations include 5,000 from CL&P and 900 from Billy Grant’s Restaurant Group. And of course, donations from the food industry like the 1,000 turkeys from Stop & Shop, which helped kick off the Campaign.

But meeting the holiday need isn’t the end of the road for Foodshare. Still short by $381,000, the food bank’s Annual Turkey and Thirty Campaign actually runs through the end of November. This money is needed to sustain Foodshare’s year-round work, helping 128,000 hungry residents living in Greater Hartford. Donations can be made in person, online, or through the mail.
