The West Hartford Town-Wide "Turkey and Thirty" Drive was off to a good start this morning as volunteers waved to commuters heading in to work. The collection effort, organized by lead volunteers Kathleen Costello, Tom Trumble and a group from YHB Investment Advisors (Kate, Martine and Helen), is now in its 4th year and is held in front of the Town Centre building on Main Street.
Last year the drive brought in 111 turkeys and more than $4,000 – despite a “small” ice storm, but they are setting the bar much higher this year with a goal of 300 turkeys and $4,500!
Regardless of whether they make those goals, many thanks go out to all who are participating, including CT Self-Stor who so kindly donated a truck for storing and transporting the turkeys, and Paul Robotham for driving the truck!
