Mobile Foodshare in Simsbury

Yes, Mobile Foodshare has come to Simsbury.  I stopped by the distribution yesterday to meet the volunteers and see how it was going at this new site.  65 people were provided with lettuce, cucumbers, onions, carrots, grapefruit, yogurt, and juice. 

Sadly, but perhaps not surprisingly in today's economy, I saw a couple of people in line who I know outside of Foodshare.

It was a pleasure to meet all of the volunteers who make this site run so smoothly, and in particular, I connected with Ruth Meyer, a fellow alum of St. Lawrence University, though not quite in the same class!  I'll be sending the photo of Ruth and me to our alumni magazine to let them know about the good work their alumni are doing here in Connecticut!
