Take action and call today to help protect SNAP

This week, the House Agriculture Committee is making important decisions about how to fund TEFAP and SNAP in the Farm Bill.  Cuts to SNAP are expected to be approximately $20 billion.  We need to fight back against these devastating cuts!  Congressman Courtney serves on the Agriculture Committee, so if you live in his district, you have an important opportunity to influence their decisions by calling him today.  This is a critical opportunity to demonstrate strong support for TEFAP and SNAP!
  • Call the Feeding America toll-free hotline at 866-527-1087
  • Listen to the pre-recorded message and enter your zip code when prompted.  Connect to your Representative on the Agriculture Committee, Congressman Courtney.
  • Once you are connected to your representative, state that you are a constituent and give your name and the town you are calling from.  Be sure to give the name of the food bank or local agency you are affiliated with.
  • Let them know you are calling about the Farm Bill and deliver this important message:
As your constituent, I urge you to vote for amendments to restore the SNAP cuts in the House Agriculture Committee’s Farm Bill and against the bill if those cuts are not restored.  The $20 billion cuts to SNAP are unconscionable and will put a tremendous strain on our food bank.  Please don’t hurt struggling families who truly need help by taking food from their dinner tables.
·         Spread the word by sharing with your local networks and on social media.
