Connecticut 'SNAPshots' - who is using SNAP in CT?

End Hunger CT! has launched  the CT SNAPshots Campaign to spread the word about the benefits of SNAP and how SNAP has been critical to CT residents.

A selection of stories that were shared with EHC!:
  • A 79 year old widow who wouldn't have been able to keep her house;
  • A widow whose husband's terminal illness exhausted their life savings;
  • A married 33 year old father of 3 who worked full time but doesn't earn enough to meet all of his family's needs. He and his wife sometimes go without food so that their kids have enough to eat;
  • A 28 year old military veteran recently back from serving in the Middle East who now is finding it hard to catch up on bills incurred while she was away serving her country;
  • A 42 year old single mom recently laid off after working for her employer for 5 years;
  • A 72 year old woman whose Social Security benefits don't cover her needs for the entire month;
  • A 65 year old woman recovering from a serious medical procedure that kept her in the hospital for a month. SNAP is helping her pay for the healthy food she needs to recover;
  • A 38 year old bank manager who grew up in a family of 10 who received SNAP. His father was a State Trooper.
These very personal stories help put a "face" on the people who receive SNAP and help our Senators and Members of Congress protect SNAP. EHC! is continuing to collect stories and would appreciate it if you would continue to send  your stories.

Sharing your CT SNAPshot is easy! Visit the EHC! website, post to their Facebook page or tweet your story using the #MyCTSHAPshot hashtag.  Every story counts!
