Foodshare receives a prayer shawl

Last evening I was priveleged to attend an event at the Spiritual Life Center in West Hartford.  The Center is observing its thirtieth anniversary and so undertook a project to make thirty prayer shawls for thirty organizations who are supporting and nurturing spiritual growth and community well-being.

I was honored to accept this beautiful shawl made by Catherine Kosciol.  Catherine told me she has been a long-time supporter of Foodshare because she believes that everyone should have their basic needs satisfied.  She chose to knit a red prayer shawl because red is symbolic of the first chakra, which attends to our basic needs.  And what could be more basic than food?

A big thank you to Catherine and to everyone at the Spiritual Life Center for including Foodshare in this wonderful program.
