More on The Hartford's "Day of Caring"

A little addendum to Wednesday's story about employees of The Hartford spending their "Day of Caring" with Foodshare...

This group of 15 employees of The Hartford spent the day at Varney Farm in South Windsor, where the crop is entirely grown just for Foodshare.

This e-mail sent to the team afterwards expresses just what a great job they did!

"CONGRATULATIONS!!  Your Team's competitive spirit was recognized in the results from the harvesting on Wednesday - the highest poundage of produce on a single day for the year to date, and that accomplished in the shortest time in the field!!

"The truck full of produce weighed in at 1319 pounds....1132 lbs of eggplant and 187 lbs of green peppers.

"The folks at Foodshare were excited with the amount delivered.  And, they also appreciated the treats from Dunkin Doughnuts.

"Our thanks to you and your team's efforts in support of the Varney Farm in it's mission to provide fresh, locally grown produce for Foodshare.  Please join us again as schedules permit."
