Turkish Cultural Center donation

 

Earlier today, representatives of the Turkish Cultural Center Connecticut joined me and Representative and Deputy Speaker Peggy Sayers when the Cultural Center donated over 200 pounds of ground beef to Foodshare.

As Mehmet Erdogdu, Executive Director of the Turkish Cultural Center explained to me, the group had recently celebrated the Feast of Sacrifice, a tradition that dates back to Abraham.  He said that their Muslim faith dictates that they give two-thirds of the meat from the feast to the poor and so they opted to donate to Foodshare.
