Big Y donates meat to Foodshare

Big Y World Class Markets began participating in Foodshare's "Meat the Need" program in mid November.  There are 11 stores in the area Foodshare serves.  Seven of them are currently freezing and holding meat for Foodshare to pick up, the other four will start next week.

The staff at each of these BIG Y locations has been very excited to begin this process and it is clear that they have a desire to turn their edible but unsellable meat into meals for their hungry neighbors.

Foodshare has received over 600,000 pounds of meat this year as part of  the "Meat the Need" program from the numerous retail and wholesale grocers in our service area.
