Fire at Target follow up

On Monday, January 27th, Target of Enfield had a small fire in a section of their store. As a result, a substantial amount of merchandise was deemed unsellable due to damage from smoke and water.

Gail Soverino, receiver at Target of Enfield, knew that although the merchandise was a loss for the store, it was certainly still useable in the community, so she contacted Foodshare first thing on Tuesday morning. Thanks to Gail’s efforts to salvage as much as possible, Foodshare picked up 15 pallets of donations. Items like baby diapers, clothing, detergent, and toilet paper will fill the shelves in our Agency Pick-up area.

Target staff members work so hard to prepare food donations for Foodshare’s Volunteer Retail Pick-Up Program every Monday through Friday with donations going to a pantry and community kitchen in Enfield.

Gail understands that the need in the community goes far beyond just food. Thank you.
