Volunteers pick up donated food

Foodshare's volunteer retail pick-up program has been a key part of our growth this past year and there is still more growth potential. Program coordinator Gaye sent me this e-mail the other day:

"Snapped this picture today at Shop Rite Southington. It shows Retail Pick-Up Volunteer Mary McAward with Flo Hudson, a sales associate in Produce from Shop Rite Southington. Mary has been with our program for almost a year and seems to know every store staff member by name. Flo works so hard to set aside daily produce donations. She even kept finding more for us while we were there sorting. "

This program engages volunteers to pick up food donations from local stores and deliver them directly to area food pantries and kitchens. We have capacity to grow even further, but need more volunteers. If you might be interested in volunteering, please consider coming to the next volunteer training on February 13 from 9:00 to 11:00 AM!
