1,000 hours (or more) of volunteer service

Dorothy "Dot" Smith and her husband Charles, who passed away recently, starting volunteering at Foodshare in 1993!  For over 20 years, Dot and Charles volunteered as a team.  They were involved in many volunteer opportunities as Foodshare Ambassadors—special events’ tabling, Walk Against Hunger, Annual Meetings, Thanksgiving and various office projects within the business office.

Since Charles' passing, Dot continues to devote her time helping with various office projects at Foodshare.  When I presented her with her jacket and pin for 1000 hours of service, I noted that she has really probably contributed twice that many hours, since in the early years of her volunteer service, we weren't quite as organized about keeping track!

Dot may be petite in stature, but she has a really big heart and is such an important part of the team here at Foodshare!  Thank you, Dot, for all that you do!
