Yesterday, Prasad Menon, past president of the Simsbury - Granby Rotary Club and an active Foodshare SNAP Outreach Volunteer, stopped by with the Rotary Club's annual donation to Foodshare.I asked Prasad why the gift was for $1,001 rather than an even $1,000. He explained to me that in India, where he is originally from, it is considered bad luck to have something end in a zero. So, when he added his personal donation onto what the Rotary had raised for Foodshare, he made the total come to $1,001!
