Ten years at Foodshare

At yesterday's monthly all hands meeting, we celebrated Cindy Huk's tenth anniversary at Foodshare.  Cindy was hired as our receptionist 10 years ago and was later promoted to administrative assistant in the operations department.

In those ten years, Foodshare has grown 40% - from distributing 10 million pounds of food per year to 14 million pounds - and moved from Windsor to a larger facility in Bloomfield and then expanded the Bloomfield facility.

It is our practice to celebrate a ten year anniversary with a gift unique to the individual being honored and so, knowing the Cindy is doing some major renovations at her home, we presented her with a Home Depot gift card.

Cindy responded with this e-mail later in the day:

"I will take this opportunity to thank you for the very generous Home Depot gift card. Our kitchen is in the middle of a total make-over; this certainly will expedite our work (yes, it’s all being done by us). The thought of having a sink in the kitchen is in my future!  Washing dishes in my bathroom sink, although do-able, is difficult at times.

"Foodshare is a unique and wonderful place to work. I am honored to be part of this organization, daily making a difference in the lives of our less fortunate neighbors.

"Thank you."
