Heads Up! Hartford Summer Camp At Foodshare

Last week, Foodshare received a big helping hand from Heads Up! Hartford’s summer campers.  The program is a faith based initiative which “brings urban and suburban students in the Greater Hartford area together to break down the barriers between them as they improve their city through integrated work groups”.  More than 40 high school students volunteered, sorting frozen meat at Foodshare’s headquarters, bagging fresh produce at our Regional Market, and gardening at Auer Farm in Bloomfield.  They helped us in our mission while having fun in the process, and we hope to see them again next summer!

Foodshare relies on volunteers to help us in our mission to solve hunger in Greater Hartford. If you are part of a group – work, school, house of worship, or other organization – that is looking for a volunteer opportunity, please get in touch with Keith Varriale, Volunteer Specialist at 860-286-9999 x148.
