Summer meals for children

Free Summer Meals for kids and teens are being  provided at Goslee Pool in Stroh Park at 685 Windsor Avenue in Windsor from 12:30 to 1:30 pm.  Between Windsor's Goslee pool site and Deerfield apartments site, approximately 100+ free meals are provided in Windsor daily, which is up from 30+ meals per day last summer.  The Windsor Hunger Action Teamsuccessfully put together a Summer Meal promotion program that has helped increase participation by having fun activities provided by Justin Lessard; delivering the meals to locations close to where the kids live, as opposed to in school buildings; and promoting the program with signs, banners and bookmarks across Windsor.

In addition to the usual fun activities on Tuesday, August 11th Renée DiNino from The River 105.9radio stopped by to celebrate the Summer Meals program with her famous
hula hoop contest.  It was also a chance for the many staff that collaborate the Summer Meals program behind the scenes to get out from their respective offices and see the kids enjoying their lunch.
