We continue to receive gifts from
our recent Buy a Bay mailing, the first mailing in the community phase of the
Bridging the Gap Campaign. To date 500 donors have contributed over
$34,000!
Even more exciting, this unique
mailing is helping us to meet our goal of strengthening relationships with
long-term and leadership donors! For example, last week our
Individual Giving Manager, Merry, had a lovely visit with a couple who had been
donors for 20 years, but who had never visited Foodshare. As a result of
the mailing they called to see if they could have a tour and see where their
bay could be. For 20 years this couple has donated $15 or $25 dollars, 3
or 4 times a year, but we did not know them personally. They arrived
intending to donate $250 for a bay, but by the end of the hour tour (and a few
tears over the scale of the need and Foodshare’s response to it), they choose
$500 so they could recognize the donor’s deceased father and are considering
becoming volunteers so that they can give tours of the building themselves.
This story is just one example of
just how powerful visits to Foodshare can be! It is the single most
important thing you can do to support Foodshare’s work. Consider inviting
family, friends, your team at work, or your son’s youth group for a tour
(today!). It can truly be life-changing, for the donor and for the
individuals that Foodshare serves.
