Sharing Food with Foodshare

Chef Jim Oswald

A number of years ago Jim Oswald, Executive Chef at the Sheraton Hartford South in Rocky Hill,  saw the Convoy of Caring on television.  At that time the Convoy lined up and started at the Regional Market.  Jim thought that the Sheraton (which was a Marriott at that time) would be a much more accommodating venue and offered to host the event- complete with a breakfast for those in attendance.  It has been held there ever since.

Jim and his staff are incredible accommodating and generous.  They order the table linens and let up the room with the needed audio visual.  They have provided coffee and pastries outside in the early morning. Early this year I asked if we could possibly increase the breakfast invite list, he agreed.  We went from 100 to 200 people at the breakfast this year- all provided as an in kind donation to Foodshare and our local Food Industry.

Convoy of Caring in action
The Convoy of Caring and Recognition Breakfast continues to grow and become an event- none of this would be possible if it were not for the generosity of the Sheraton Hartford South.
