Gloria McAdam Receives MetroHartford Alliance Award

When Foodshare president Gloria McAdam received the Rising Star Award at yesterday’s MetroHartford Rising Star Breakfast in the Hartford HIlton, the packed ballroom responded with a rousing standing ovation that went on for several minutes. Even though the morning’s featured speaker was Governor Dannel Malloy, it was clear that Gloria was the major source of attention in several ways. Alliance president Oz Griebel was lavish with his praise as he presented the award, and he was followed by Webster Bank CEO James Smith, who also went on at length about the growth of the organization and Gloria’s work. And the governor himself spoke with real admiration about Foodshare. Gloria, typically, was modest and self-effacing, and she put most of the focus on the organization’s board and staff, encouraging Alliance members to continue their support of the work.
