"Last Friday I was able to drop in at the Price Chopper in Storrs to thank them for their efforts in Price Chopper's Check out Hunger campaign.
The Storrs location raised $3,093 which was the highest of all 134 Price Chopper stores! And--this store is brand new--it just opened last July. This store was designed to serve the pedestrian community of Storrs/Mansfield- also known as the UCONN student body.
Customer Service Manager, Amy Shirk said "It's unbelievable, the students here will just open their wallets! If you ask them for $1 to help feed hungry people, they offer you $5!"
"All you have to do is ask." said store manager Jim Benson.
Price Chopper Storrs is clearly very good at asking! As a result of those asks we will be able to provide over 9,000 meals. A huge thank you to the great team at Price Chopper Storrs!"
