Turkey Hero

For the past 11 years, Joseph Steckel has run a turkey drive at the government building in Hartford where he works. He says he started doing this to build morale at the office, and it seems to have worked: over the past 11 years, he and his officemates have donated to Foodshare 1,500 turkeys and almost $30,000. He'll be out there again this year, on November 24, to add to that total. And he'll follow that by participating in the Manchester Road Race, where he will have banners and a table celebrating the turkey donations. This is the kind of quiet dedication that makes our hunger work possible. Hats off to Joe!
