Kale Day at Goodwin Elementary

Thursday November 12th was Kale Day at the Joseph O. Goodwin Elementary School in East Hartford. Students were able to sample delicious soup made with local kale, lentils, and elbow pasta. The students were then asked to vote on whether or not they liked it. Kale Day is part of a year long program in collaboration with Put Local On Your Tray and the East Hartford Public Schools. A single fruit or vegetable is selected for one day each month and tastings are held in the cafeteria during lunch. The East Hartford Hunger Action Team helps to provide volunteers at the tasting events. Next month students will get to sample Butternut Squash.
