Nationally, SNAP participation averaged 43,478,196 people in May 2016, a decrease of over 2 million or 4.6% since May 2015. This is the lowest SNAP national participation level since October 2010. In Connecticut, about 22,000 fewer people received SNAP in May 2016 compared to May 2015, a 2.8% drop. Over the past five years, though, SNAP participation in Connecticut has grown by 12%, among the highest growth rates in the nation.
