This week is National Truck Driver Appreciation Week. What better time to say thank you to our hard working Foodshare drivers? These five are on the front lines, every day, whether it’s making agency deliveries, picking up from our retail donors, or driving the Mobile Foodshare trucks to distribute food directly to help out our hungry neighbors.
I believe they have the hardest jobs at Foodshare! Not only do they have to be good truck drivers, who can put large trucks safely into small spaces and do some of their work outside, no matter the weather. They also have to be Foodshare's "face" and part of our sales force to the food industry donors and to the public. In addition, when they go to Mobile Foodshare sites, they have to be part program coordinator, part volunteer coordinator, part social worker, and general all-around problem solver!
So, not just this week, but all year long, I say thank you for a job well done to Alan, Donny, Gary, John, Paul, and sometimes Fran and Steve (who both have other jobs at Foodshare, but are our back-up drivers). Foodshare could not begin to accomplish what we do without your hard work every single day. Thank you!
