In The Spotlight: Lincoln Financial Group

Lincoln Financial Group is built on the notion of corporate citizenship, and remains committed to supporting the communities in which they work. Here in greater Hartford, Foodshare has been a privileged partner for as long as we can remember.

Since 2000, the Lincoln Financial Foundation has helped make sure Foodshare's Fight Hunger at the Holidays initiative was successful.  Their grant of $40,000 strengthens Foodshare’s capacity to meet the need of low income individuals and families in the greater Hartford community during the November and December holiday season.

The company's underwriting support, and engagement of an employee team, helped Foodshare’s Turkey and a Twenty Campaign bring in more than 19,000 turkeys to meet the needs of hungry Hartford and Tolland County residents.  Their partnership has will also enable Foodshare to distribute an additional 2.6 million pounds of food to help local families through the rest of the holiday season.
In addition to providing this generous financial support to further our fight against hunger, employees from the local branch of Lincoln Financial Group dedicate time to sorting produce at our Regional Market in Hartford and have served on Foodshare’s committees and Board of Directors.

As a strong supporter of initiatives aimed at ensuring that all individuals have the ability to meet basic needs such as food, they understand that until a person's basic needs are met, s/he cannot focus on education or finding sustained employment.
