The heated debate over SNAP is expected to continue next week when lawmakers return from their Memorial Day break. But it’s almost certain benefits will shrink as well as the number those eligible for the program as both the Senate and House Farm bills cut SNAP funding (the Senate by $4 billion, the House by $20 billion). Mary Parizo of End Hunger Connecticut! predicts 85,000 of the state’s 410,000 SNAP recipients will see their benefits cut or will lose them entirely.
