Our very best wishes to Ernie Pitti – today is his last day as Food Sourcing Manager. He is retiring and you can see he came to work in his retirement attire today!
In his time here at Foodshare, Ernie has forged many new relationships with the food industry, encouraging companies to become engaged in a myriad of ways that go above and beyond donating food. He has taken the Food Industry Convoy of Caring to new heights and helped launch one of our newest initiatives, the Volunteer Retail Pick-Up Program. While I am sure retirement will be filled with new adventures, we all hope Ernie will return to Foodshare in a volunteer capacity.
We had a little retirement celebration for Ernie on Wednesday and many of his friends from the food industry and the volunteers who have worked with him attended. Whether or not you were able to join us on Wednesday, I know you will all join me in wishing him well in the next phase of his journey! Ernie shared these thoughts with us after Wednesday evening’s gathering:
More than anything else I’ve ever done, working with each and every one of you has been the highlight of my career. Thanks so much for giving me a chance, for teaching me , for supporting me and for being great friends!
The party, your very kind notes in the card and the very generous gift card are deeply appreciated and now that I’ve added Max to our bucket list of places to dine, I think I’ll have step up my yoga and swim classes at the ‘Y’. J
I know I’m here for one more day but I don’t want to miss the chance to thank all of you for everything, for making me part of your Foodshare family, and for all the memories I’ll carry with me for the rest of my life.
Ernie
