Apple donation from local orchard

David and Janet Kollas of Kollas orchards in Tolland had 450 bushels of apples to donate last week.  The challenge was that they needed to be transferred into bins at their location in Tolland.

For the second year in a row, Kandi Victorino, coordinator for the Mobile Foodshare site at the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints in Ellington, organized a group of volunteers to help.  They converted the 450 bushels into 22 bins which weighed in at  15,931 pounds of apples!
