On Friday, I joined Foodshare staffers Paula and Gaye to attend a morning associate’s meeting at Walmart’s Neighborhood Market in order to present them with a plaque and a Certificate of Appreciation for their very generous donations in 2013.
This is currently the only retail store where Foodshare volunteers pick up donations seven days a week. This takes a tremendous commitment on the part of department managers and staff to set aside edible food that is distributed to five different partner programs. In 2013, Neighborhood Market donated 189,135 meals to hungry people in our community.
