A Sunday message

This morning, I had the privelege of being the guest speaker at First Church of Christ in Glastonbury and delivering the sermon for their "Justice Sunday."

First Church has been a great partner with Foodshare, hosting the Mobile Foodshare program every two weeks, organizing a town-wide "Turkey and Thirty" drive, taking part in the Walk Against Hunger, and many members donate and volunteer.  So, it was great to be there with them.

Found Foodshare Board member Lola Elliott-Hugh sings in the choir at the church and afterwards, she had this to say, "How wonderful to have dear friend Gloria McAdam as our guest speaker this morning. She shared with the congregation that I was on the hiring committee that selected her to be Foodshare's director 30 (ahem...) years ago! I served a special, ...formative 10 years on that board and remain committed to Foodshare's mission. As always- Foodshare- and Gloria McAdam are on the cutting edge of promoting smarter thinking about managing hunger. In her message, 'More than Loaves Alone,' Gloria challenged us to move from thinking about feeding people to serving them. And beyond that-- to dining with our neighbors"

You can read the text of my sermon here.
