Kristen Bouchard, Director of Social Services for East Windsor, Beatrice Maslowski of Foodshare and East Windsor Parks and Recreation Director Melissa Maltese were present, as well as East Windsor First Selectman Denise Menard. They were all vital to the inception and completion of this project.
Rep. Davis, who has been active with Foodshare in Broad Brook, is excited to have a “Free Meals” program in his district.
“A lot of times we know that when kids are not in school they are not eating, which is terribly unfortunate,” he said to the crowd. “We need to get as many kids that need this service as possible, get them fed and get them on the right track for the summer. That is what this project is about and I am so happy to get it started and watch it continue to grow.”
HAT and Foodshare will provide these meals from 11:00 a.m. to 1:00 p.m. every week day until August 21 at the East Windsor Town Hall Annex. Meals will be provided to children completely free of charge and are funded by the U.S. Department of Agriculture.
More information on “Free Meals” can be found by visiting www.CTSummerMeals.org, calling 2-1-1, or texting CTMeals to 877877.
