In The Spotlight: Bank of America

Do you know there are a variety of ways to support our work as a donor, and not all of them involve writing a personal check? While Bank of America provides ample financial support, they are also a great example of how a corporate donor can become more hands-on.

As a sponsor of the famed Turkey Tuesday event, held every year in November, dozens of Bank of America employees join the effort by taking to the streets of Hartford to solicit gifts of turkeys and twenties. They kindly play host to our event, allowing Foodshareand WDRC-AM Radio to take over the lobby of their building!

Bank of America volunteers have also been spotted sorting produce at the regional market and last year, during the holidays, they all chose to forgo a traditional company-sponsored activity instead donating the money to Foodshare.

Bank of America Community Volunteers serve as champions of change in the communities they serve. In 2009, they donated more than 800,000 hours of volunteer time to help meet critical needs in communities across the globe. A portion of those hours were dedicated to helping Foodshare and our 128,000 hungry neighbors here in greater Hartford. Thanks Bank of America!
